About Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is an international airport serving Glasgow, South Ayrshire and the wider west of Scotland. It began life as a training airfield around 1934 and later developed into a commercial airport, with the current terminal building opening in 1964.
Located in Prestwick, about 51 km (32 miles) southwest of Glasgow city centre, the airport operates a single passenger terminal and provides links to domestic and international destinations, serving both leisure and business travellers across the region.
The airport is the only airport in Scotland with its own railway station. Trains on the Ayrshire Coast Line run to Ayr and Glasgow Central roughly every 30 minutes, with a covered walkway connecting the station to the terminal, and bus, taxi and car parking options are also available.
With a compact terminal layout, shops, dining, a lounge and free Wi-Fi, Glasgow Prestwick Airport functions as a practical gateway for visitors travelling to Glasgow, Ayr and the Ayrshire coast.
