George F. L. Charles Airport is the airport serving Saint Lucia's capital, Castries, and is located at Vigie on the northern edge of the city. Opened in 1941 and formerly known as Vigie Airport, it was renamed in 1997 in honour of Sir George Frederick Lawrence Charles, Saint Lucia's first Chief Minister.
