Frans Kaisiepo Airport serves Biak, the main town on Biak Island, and is the principal air gateway to the Biak Archipelago in Papua, Indonesia. The airport connects the island with destinations across Papua and other parts of Indonesia, and handles both domestic and international flights.
The airfield has its origins in the Second World War, when it was built as Mokmer airfield and later used by Allied forces. It was later named after Frans Kaisiepo, a prominent Papuan leader, and the international terminal was inaugurated in 1988. A renovation of the passenger terminal was completed in 2018.
Located about 3 km east of Biak town centre, the airport is a short drive from the city. Travelers can continue by airport taxi, private transfer or rental car, and the terminal provides passenger facilities including a lounge, dining options, shops and other services.
