About Emalamo Airport
Emalamo Airport is the main domestic airport serving Sanana, the capital of Kepulauan Sula Regency in North Maluku, Indonesia. Construction began in 1974 and the airport started operating around 1980 as a pioneer airfield supporting transport, logistics and government services in this remote island region.
Located about 5 km from central Sanana in Wai Ipa village, the airport connects the Sula Islands with other parts of North Maluku and surrounding areas. Its single runway is 1,100 metres long and handles domestic flights operated by regional carriers.
The airport has a single passenger terminal for arrivals and departures, with basic facilities for travelers. Ground transportation to Sanana town is available by road, and onward travel to nearby villages can be arranged locally.
As the region's main air gateway, Emalamo Airport supports domestic connectivity for residents, government travel and visitors moving through the Sula Islands.
