About Edson Airport
Edson Airport is a Transport Canada certified airport operated by the Town of Edson in west-central Alberta. It sits within town limits roughly 190 km west of Edmonton and about 163 km east of Jasper, giving it a practical position between the Alberta capital and Jasper National Park.
The airport does not currently offer scheduled passenger flights. Instead, it supports general aviation, private aircraft and charter operators serving the forestry, petroleum, mining and tourism industries, with local fixed-wing and helicopter companies providing charter service.
Its infrastructure is built around a single asphalt runway, 07/25, measuring 6,000 feet by 100 feet, along with taxiways and apron areas. The facility operates 24 hours a day and is equipped with runway lighting, a PAPI system, a rotating beacon and an automated weather observation system.
Because the airfield is located inside Edson, the town centre and its services are only a short drive away, with Highway 16 providing onward road links to Hinton, Jasper, Edmonton and the wider region.
