About Déline Airport
Déline Airport is a small public airport serving Déline (Délı̨nę), a Sahtu Region community on the western shore of Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories, Canada. It is the community's primary year-round air link, connecting Déline to regional hubs such as Norman Wells and Yellowknife.
Located about 2.6 kilometres northwest of the community, the airport operates a single gravel runway (08/26) and a compact passenger terminal building. Scheduled passenger services are provided by North-Wright Airways, supported by charter and freight traffic serving the region.
The airport is operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories. The federal government tendered construction of the passenger and cargo shelter, along with the runway, in 1979, and the facility remains an essential connection for the community.
Because road access to Déline is seasonal, air travel is important for everyday travel, supplies and medical connections. After landing, travellers typically cover the short distance into the community by local vehicle or pre-arranged transport.
