About Coll Airport
Coll Airport is the only scheduled air link serving the Isle of Coll in Scotland's Inner Hebrides, connecting the island community with Oban and Tiree through regional flights operated by Hebridean Air Services. It acts as a lifeline for residents, visitors and essential island services.
The airfield began as Ballard Farm, opening in 1975 to replace the earlier Totronald landing ground and support Loganair flights. After a brief closure in 1990 and a period as an unlicensed strip, the airport was licensed in August 2008 with a hard runway and a compact passenger terminal.
Located about 9 kilometres west southwest of Arinagour, Coll's main village, the airport sits beside the B8070 road. It operates as a small single-terminal airfield with a short paved runway suited to light aircraft and short take-off and landing operations.
Onward travel is straightforward but limited: taxis can be arranged in advance, and many travelers combine the flight with ferry connections through Oban or local transport on Coll. The airport's compact layout and quiet, personal atmosphere make arrivals and departures simple for island travelers.
