About Cluff Lake Airport

Cluff Lake Airport is a decommissioned airstrip in far northwestern Saskatchewan that served the Cluff Lake uranium mine. From the late 1970s until the mine ceased operations in 2002, the airport supported charter flights carrying workers, supplies, and equipment to one of northern Canada's major uranium projects.

The site lies near the northern terminus of Saskatchewan Highway 955, about 75 km south of Lake Athabasca and close to the Alberta border. It operated as a small industrial aerodrome with a single gravel runway and basic shelter and support buildings rather than a public passenger terminal.

Following the mine closure, most infrastructure was removed by 2006 and the airport was fully decommissioned by 2013 as part of site remediation. The area is now extremely remote, with no scheduled commercial flights and no regular public transport, so access requires a charter flight or pre-arranged road travel.
