About Churchill Airport
Churchill Airport is the main airport serving the town of Churchill and the surrounding Hudson Bay region of northern Manitoba. Built in 1942, it served as Fort Churchill before the military base closed in 1980, and today the airport remains operational and is owned and operated by Transport Canada under the National Airports Policy.
Located about 6 km east-southeast of central Churchill, the airport provides connections for domestic flights and also supports charter and medical services. Its single air terminal building and two runways serve a remote northern community that is a major destination for polar bear, beluga whale and northern lights tourism.
Ground transportation between the airport and town is available by taxi and car rental, with private transfers also an option for visitors arriving for wildlife tours or overnight stays. Parking is free at the terminal.
