Chesterfield Inlet Airport (YCS)

Chesterfield Inlet Airport is the only airport serving the hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet, a small community on the northwest shore of Hudson Bay in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. Operated by the Government of Nunavut, it provides scheduled domestic air links to other communities in the territory, primarily through connections at Rankin Inlet.

The airport is located about 2 km northwest of the community and uses a single gravel runway. A new air terminal building opened in April 2025, replacing an older facility that had served the community for more than 40 years; the new building offers more space, better seating, natural lighting, local artwork and wheelchair accessibility.

Because the hamlet is small, the journey between the airport and the community is short, and travelers typically continue by taxi, local vehicle or pre-arranged private transfer. The airport's compact size means check-in, baggage collection and arrivals are handled in one terminal area.

Scheduled service is operated by Calm Air International, with flights connecting Chesterfield Inlet to Rankin Inlet and the wider Kivalliq network. The airport functions as an essential year-round gateway for residents, medical travel, cargo and visitors to this part of Nunavut.
