Cassidy International Airport (CXI)

Cassidy International Airport is the main international gateway to Kiritimati (Christmas Island), one of the Line Islands in the Republic of Kiribati. As one of only two international airports in Kiribati, it links the island with flights from Fiji and Hawaii and supports domestic services across the Line Islands.

The airport has a single asphalt runway of about 2,103 metres and a compact single-storey passenger terminal that handles domestic and international arrivals and departures in one building. The terminal includes check-in, security, immigration, baggage claim and a modest waiting area.

It sits in the north of the island, close to the village of Banana and roughly 25 kilometres from London, the main settlement. The island's main road connects the airport with surrounding villages and the coast, and most travellers continue by pre-arranged transfer, bus or vehicle organised through their accommodation.

Managed by the Airport Kiribati Authority, with Air Kiribati handling ground services, the airport serves a small number of flights each week. Facilities are simple but adequate for the island's modest passenger numbers, making advance planning useful for transfers and onward travel.
