About Budiarto Airport
Budiarto Airport is a general aviation and flight training airport in Curug, Tangerang Regency, Banten. It is best known as the home of Sekolah Tinggi Penerbangan Indonesia (STPI), Indonesia's civil aviation training institute, and it also supports private and VIP flights.
The airfield was established in the 1950s as Lapangan Terbang Curug and was renamed in 1967 in honour of Budiarto, a former director of the Indonesian Aviation Academy. Its two crossing runways allow training operations to be adjusted to prevailing winds, and the facility remains focused on pilot education rather than scheduled passenger services.
Located roughly 14 km southwest of central Tangerang and about 30 km from Jakarta, the airport is reached by road through the Curug area. It sits relatively close to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which handles the region's commercial passenger traffic.
Because Budiarto does not operate scheduled commercial flights, most travellers use it for training, general aviation or VIP movements, and continue to Tangerang, South Tangerang or Jakarta by private car, taxi or arranged transfer.
