Blaise Diagne International Airport is the main international airport serving Dakar and the wider Senegalese region. Opened on 7 December 2017, it replaced Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport as the country's principal gateway and now handles nearly all scheduled commercial air traffic for Senegal.
Located in Diass, roughly 45–50 km southeast of central Dakar, the airport serves domestic routes as well as long-haul and regional connections to West Africa, Europe and beyond. A single modern terminal building accommodates arrivals, departures, check-in, security and passenger services, and it functions as the main hub for Air Senegal.
The airport is connected to Dakar by a toll motorway, with journeys to the city centre typically taking around an hour or more depending on traffic. Taxis, private transfers, rental cars and shuttle services provide onward travel, while a regional express rail link has been planned to improve access.
