About Berenice International Airport
Opened in January 2020, Berenice International Airport serves Egypt's southern Red Sea coast and the town of Berenice near Banas Cape. It was developed as a dual-use facility alongside the Berenice military base to improve access to the region's resorts and dive sites.
The airport has a single passenger terminal with a capacity of around 600 passengers per hour, an apron that can accommodate up to eight aircraft and a 3,650-meter runway. A 58-meter control tower and supporting technical, administrative and service buildings complete the airport complex.
Located about 130 kilometers south of Marsa Alam, the airport is reached mainly by road along the Red Sea coastal route. Travelers continue by private transfer, taxi, chauffeur service, rental car or arranged bus and group transport to Marsa Alam, Berenice, Hamata, Wadi Lahmy and other coastal destinations.
For visitors to the southern Red Sea, the airport offers a convenient entry point that shortens onward journeys to several resort areas compared with airports further north, supporting tourism throughout the region.
