About Belle-Île Airport
Belle-Île Airport (BIC) is the main air gateway to Belle-Île-en-Mer, the largest island off the coast of Brittany. Opened in 1954 and located in the commune of Bangor, it primarily serves light aviation, private flights, on-demand air connections with the mainland and helicopter services.
The aerodrome has a single asphalt runway measuring 660 metres by 25 metres, a control tower and one compact terminal building. It welcomes private aircraft and charter flights and supports tourist excursions around the island, with the runway remaining open throughout the year.
Situated about 4 km south-southwest of Le Palais, the island's main town and ferry port, the airport is a short drive from hotels, beaches and villages such as Sauzon and Bangor. The terminal building is generally open from March to mid-November.
Although there is no scheduled commercial airline service, the airport offers a practical link for on-demand flights to Lorient, Nantes and Toussus-le-Noble near Paris. Passengers can continue by taxi, pre-arranged transfer or rental vehicle to destinations across Belle-Île-en-Mer.
