About Beaver Creek Airport
Beaver Creek Airport is a small public aerodrome serving Beaver Creek, Yukon, and is recognized as the westernmost airport in Canada. It is operated by the Government of Yukon and supports general aviation, private aircraft, medical evacuation flights and local industry rather than large scheduled airline services.
The airport is located about one nautical mile northwest of the community, close to the Alaska Highway and the Alaska border. Jack Stalberg cleared the original airstrip from the bush in the 1960s, and the community later dedicated the airport to him in recognition of his work. Today the airport has a single gravel runway measuring about 1,141 metres long and 30 metres wide.
As an airport of entry, Beaver Creek Airport is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency for processing general aviation aircraft, typically with no more than 15 passengers. The compact air terminal building provides basic passenger amenities, while the apron offers parking, tie-downs and plug-in services.
Access to the airport is simple by private vehicle along the Alaska Highway, and the community of Beaver Creek is only a short drive away. Travelers heading elsewhere in western Yukon generally continue by car, pre-arranged transfer or chartered vehicle, since scheduled public transit is not available at this small aerodrome.
