About Barra Airport
Barra Airport is the only airport in the world where scheduled flights use a tidal beach as the runway. Located on Traigh Mhòr at the northern tip of the Isle of Barra, it has served the island since 1936 and remains a vital air link to mainland Scotland.
Operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited, the airport handles regular domestic flights between Barra and Glasgow, with schedules arranged around the tides. Its compact single terminal building provides a simple passenger experience for arrivals, departures and airline operations.
