Ayawasi Airport is a small domestic pioneer airport serving the village of Ayawasi in Aifat Utara, Maybrat Regency, in Indonesia's Southwest Papua province. The airstrip dates back to 1956, when it was established as a Catholic mission airfield, and it continues to connect the inland area with the region's larger cities.
The airport has a single asphalt runway of about 830 metres that can accommodate small aircraft such as the De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter. Scheduled pioneer flights operated by Susi Air link Ayawasi with Sorong and Manokwari, providing an essential alternative to long and difficult overland journeys.
Ayawasi Airport lies along the Trans Sorong–Manokwari road, roughly 135 km from Sorong, the capital of Southwest Papua. Road travel to Sorong can take around five hours or more depending on conditions, while a direct flight takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
The passenger terminal is compact and offers basic facilities for departing and arriving passengers. Because services are limited, travellers should confirm flight schedules and plan onward transport in advance.
