About Auckland Airport
Auckland Airport is New Zealand's main international airport and the country's busiest gateway, located in the Māngere suburb roughly 21 km south of central Auckland. It opened in 1966 to replace the former Whenuapai airfield and was built on partly reclaimed land along the eastern shore of Manukau Harbour.
The airport operates two passenger terminals, a domestic terminal and an international terminal, which sit a short walk apart and are linked by a free terminal transfer bus. It handles domestic services across New Zealand together with international flights, making it a key connection point for both leisure and business travellers.
The airport is connected to the city by bus services, taxis, ride-share, private transfers, shuttles and rental cars, with ground transport gathered around the Transport Hub. Normal driving time to the city centre is around 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.
Passengers can use a range of facilities including shops, duty-free retail, restaurants and cafés, lounges, free Wi-Fi, charging points, showers and accessibility services across both terminals.
