Atung Bungsu Airport is the air gateway to Pagar Alam, a city in the highlands of South Sumatra, Indonesia. The airport was developed to open air access to Pagar Alam and the surrounding Besemah region, which is framed by the Barisan Mountains. It began commercial operations in the early 2010s and has since supported domestic connectivity to the area.
The airport is named after Atung Bungsu, a figure from the Pasemah heritage of the Pagar Alam area. It operates a single passenger terminal serving domestic flights, with a runway and apron sized for regional turboprop aircraft such as the ATR 72. Routes have connected Pagar Alam with destinations including Palembang, Bengkulu and Jakarta.
Located roughly 25 km from central Pagar Alam, the airport sits in a quieter area beyond the main settlement, so journeys to the city typically take around 45 to 60 minutes by road. Taxis, private transfers and rental vehicles are the main options for continuing to hotels, Mount Dempo and other nearby attractions.
