About Asyut International Airport
Asyut International Airport serves Asyut city and the wider Upper Egypt region as a domestic and international gateway. It connects the area with Cairo and several Arab destinations, supporting residents, business travellers and visiting families.
First opened in 1974, the airport has been progressively expanded. A new passenger terminal opened in 2011, and runway and apron improvements were completed in 2015 and 2016 to increase operational capacity and improve the passenger experience.
Located approximately 25 km southwest of Asyut, the airport is reached mainly by road. Taxis, private transfers and pre-arranged vehicles connect it with the city centre and other parts of Asyut Governorate.
The compact single passenger terminal brings check-in, security, baggage claim and customs together in one building. With seating, restrooms, food and beverage outlets and duty-free shopping, the airport provides a practical arrival point for travel into Asyut and Upper Egypt.
