About Aswan International Airport
Aswan International Airport is the main airport serving Aswan and the surrounding Nubian region of Upper Egypt. It acts as a key gateway for travelers visiting the city, Lake Nasser, the High Dam, Philae Temple and the monuments of Abu Simbel. The current terminal complex opened in 1998, replacing an older airport that had previously served the city.
Located approximately 25 km from central Aswan, the airport handles both domestic and international flights and is particularly important for tourism traffic to southern Egypt. It operates through a single passenger terminal with check-in counters, security screening, arrival and departure halls, and a runway of around 3,400 metres.
