About Astra Ksetra Airport
Astra Ksetra Airport is a military air base located in Astra Ksetra, Menggala, Tulang Bawang Regency, in the Indonesian province of Lampung on southern Sumatra. It serves primarily as a base for the Indonesian Air Force and supports regional aviation and defense operations.
The airfield has a runway inherited from the Dutch colonial period, reported at around 1,900–1,950 metres, and is known as Pangkalan Udara Pangeran M. Bun Yamin. Plans have been discussed to extend the runway to accommodate larger aircraft, which could increase its role for regional connectivity.
Located near the town of Menggala, the airfield is roughly 100 km by road from Bandar Lampung and is reached through the eastern Sumatra road network, including Jalan Lintas Timur Sumatera.
Passenger infrastructure remains limited compared with a commercial airport, so most civilian travelers use the airfield as a point of access to Menggala, Tulang Bawang, and other parts of Lampung by private transfer, chauffeur, rental car, or arranged group transport.
