About Armando Schwarck Airport
Armando Schwarck Airport is a small domestic airfield serving the community of Los Pijiguaos and the bauxite mining operations of the Cedeño Municipality in Bolívar State, Venezuela. Also known as Los Pijiguaos Airport, it mainly supports charter flights, private aircraft and personnel transport for the nearby mining area.
The airport was named in honor of engineer Armando Schwarck Anglade, a former director of mining and geology in Venezuela and a pioneer in geological studies of the country. It has a single asphalt runway, 05/23, approximately 1,400 meters long, and operates only during daylight hours under visual flight rules.
Located about 1 km northwest of the town of Los Pijiguaos and roughly 400 km south of Caracas, the airport is reached by the Carretera Puerto Páez – Caicara del Orinoco road. Scheduled commercial airlines do not currently serve the airport, and passenger facilities are minimal.
Ground transportation and access should be arranged in advance through the mining company or local contacts, as on-demand taxi services are not available in this remote industrial area.
