About Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport
Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport is the main airport serving Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan, and the wider province. Opened on 24 May 2018, it replaced the older Temindung Airport and consolidated the city's scheduled air services in a modern airport complex at Sungai Siring.
Located about 18 km north of central Samarinda in the North Samarinda district, the airport connects travellers to domestic destinations such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Balikpapan. Its single passenger terminal covers around 12,700 square metres and is designed to handle roughly 1.5 million passengers a year, with a runway of 2,250 metres.
The airport is reached along the Samarinda–Bontang road corridor, with DAMRI buses, taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars providing onward travel to the city centre and nearby towns such as Bontang and Tenggarong.
With check-in and self-service facilities, dining and shopping options, a VIP lounge, prayer rooms and family amenities, the airport serves as a practical gateway for business and leisure travel in East Kalimantan.
