About Ailuk Airport

Ailuk Airport is a small public-use airstrip serving Ailuk Atoll in the Ratak Chain of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. It provides the atoll's small resident community with a vital air link to Majuro, the national capital, and a much faster alternative to long inter-island boat journeys.

The airport has a single grass and coral runway and a simple open-air shelter rather than a formal terminal building. Flights are operated by Air Marshall Islands using small turboprop aircraft, carrying passengers, mail, medical supplies and essential goods to and from the atoll.

Located on the main islet of Ailuk, the airport lies roughly 390 km northwest of Majuro. There are no road or ferry links to the capital, so scheduled flights are the main connection; onward movement within the atoll is typically by foot or local boat.

Facilities are intentionally minimal, with no shops, restaurants, lounges, refuelling services or runway lighting, so visitors should bring essential supplies and expect a simple, community-focused arrival. Despite its basic infrastructure, the airport is an essential gateway for residents and travelers visiting this remote and traditional atoll.
