Afore Airstrip (AFR)

Afore Airstrip is a small domestic airfield serving the town of Afore in the southern part of Papua New Guinea's Oro Province. It provides an important air link for a remote rural area where road access is limited and overland travel can be slow and difficult.

The airstrip has a single grass runway measuring approximately 632 metres in length. Passenger infrastructure is minimal, and operations focus on light aircraft and charter flights connecting Afore with Popondetta and other regional points.

Afore lies roughly 45 km from Popondetta, the provincial capital of Oro Province, where Girua Airport provides wider domestic connections. A road runs between Afore and Popondetta, though road conditions in the province can be challenging, especially in wet weather.

Because facilities at the airstrip are basic, travelers are encouraged to arrange ground transport in advance and confirm flight schedules directly with their operator. The airstrip plays a practical role in keeping the Afore area connected to services, supplies, and onward travel options in the province.
