Adisumarmo International Airport is the main airport serving Surakarta, also known as Solo, and the surrounding Solo Raya region in Central Java. It handles a mix of domestic services, mainly to Jakarta and other Indonesian cities, together with international and Hajj and Umrah charter operations.
Located in Ngemplak, Boyolali Regency, about 14 km north of the city centre, the airport grew from a shared military air base that has hosted civil flights since the 1940s. It was designated an international airport in 1989, and its passenger terminal complex has since been expanded and modernised to include domestic and international areas.
The airport is connected to Solo by the Adi Soemarmo Airport rail link to Solo Balapan station, as well as by Batik Solo Trans and DAMRI buses, taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers and road links, making it relatively easy to continue to the city centre and nearby districts.
