Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport is the main domestic airport serving Malang, the second-largest city in East Java, and the surrounding highland region. Located in the Pakis area of Malang Regency, about 17 km east of central Malang, it is a joint civil-military airport that shares its site with an Indonesian Air Force base.
Commercial aviation moved into a dedicated passenger terminal outside the air force operational area in 2011, and the current two-storey terminal opened in 2015. The terminal handles domestic flights connecting Malang with Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar and other Indonesian cities, with check-in on the ground floor and departure facilities above.
The airport is reached by road from Malang, with taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers and rental cars providing onward connections to the city centre and popular destinations such as Batu and the Bromo Tengger Semeru area.
