About Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean, made up of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The territory is best known for its clear turquoise waters, coral reefs, white-sand beaches and relaxed pace, making it a popular escape for leisure travellers.
George Town, the capital on Grand Cayman, is the main commercial and cruise port, while Seven Mile Beach stretches along the west coast. Cayman Brac offers a limestone bluff, caves and hiking, and Little Cayman is quieter, with renowned dive sites such as Bloody Bay Wall.
Beyond the beaches, the islands feature limestone terrain, mangrove wetlands, blowholes and a dry tropical landscape. English heritage mixes with Caribbean influences, and local cuisine, maritime history and conservation areas such as the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park add to the visitor experience.
The Cayman Islands are also a major international financial centre and host tourism and cultural events, including the annual Pirates Week festival. Stingray City, snorkelling, sailing and diving draw visitors throughout the year.
Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman is the main gateway, with smaller airports on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. A network of roads and taxi, car rental, private transfer, chauffeur and charter bus services makes travel between the airport, hotels, beaches and attractions straightforward.
