The airport sits roughly 3.7 km (2 nautical miles) south of the community and operates a single gravel runway, designated 16/34 and measuring about 1,070 metres (3,511 feet). A small terminal building handles passenger check-in, waiting, boarding and arrivals.
Scheduled passenger flights are operated by Wasaya Airways, linking Wunnumin Lake with nearby First Nations such as Kingfisher Lake and Summer Beaver, and with Big Trout Lake for onward connections toward Sioux Lookout. Charter and cargo flights also serve the community.
The airport is operated by the Government of Ontario and remains open to the public as a certified aerodrome.
