About Western Sydney International Airport
Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is Sydney's newest international and domestic gateway, serving Western Sydney and the wider New South Wales region. It opened to passenger flights on 25 October 2026 as Australia's first new greenfield international airport in more than 50 years and operates 24 hours a day without the curfew that restricts Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport.
The airport is located in the suburbs of Luddenham and Badgerys Creek, approximately 44 km west of Sydney's CBD and close to Parramatta and Penrith. Domestic and international flights operate from a single integrated terminal, the Nancy-Bird Walton Terminal, which houses both types of flights under one roof to enable fast connections.
Travelers can reach the airport by the toll-free M12 motorway, which links to Sydney's broader motorway network, or by public transport including a free shuttle to St Marys station and bus services to Penrith, Liverpool, Campbelltown and Leppington. Taxis, rideshare, private transfers, chauffeur services and car rental are also available.
