West Wyalong Airport (WWY)

West Wyalong Airport is a small regional aerodrome serving West Wyalong and the Bland Shire in the Riverina region of central New South Wales. It is operated by the Bland Shire Council and mainly supports general aviation, charter, business and private aircraft rather than scheduled passenger flights. Located about 2 km south of the town centre, the airport has two runways: a sealed asphalt runway and a shorter gravel runway, together with a basic passenger terminal. Historically the airport hosted regional passenger services, including flights to Sydney, but today it primarily serves private and charter traffic. The airport is convenient for travellers visiting West Wyalong's historic goldfields town centre, local agriculture and mining operations, including the nearby Cowal Gold Mine. It sits close to the Newell Highway and Mid-Western Highway, providing road access to larger regional centres across the Riverina. Ground transport is usually arranged by pre-booked private transfer, taxi where available or rental car, and the short drive into town makes the airport an easy entry point for the Bland Shire.
