About Webequie Airport
Webequie Airport is the only year-round air access point for Webequie First Nation, a remote Oji-Cree community in northern Ontario. The airport is located about 2 km south southwest of the community on Windigo Island and is operated by the Government of Ontario.
Because Webequie has no all-season road connection, the airport plays an essential role for scheduled flights, charter services, medical travel and supplies. Airlines serving the community include Wasaya Airways and Nakina Outpost Camps & Air Services, with connections to regional hubs such as Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout.
The airport has a single gravel runway and a compact passenger terminal with basic facilities. Its remote setting means services are limited, and passengers should confirm schedules and check-in arrangements with their airline before travel.
Seasonal winter ice roads provide some surface access in colder months, but year-round travel depends on air service. Webequie Airport therefore remains the community's main gateway to services, business and onward connections across northern Ontario.
