About Wangaratta Airport
Wangaratta Airport is a regional aerodrome serving the Rural City of Wangaratta and the surrounding north-east Victoria region. Owned and operated by the Rural City of Wangaratta, it primarily supports general aviation, charter flights, flight training and emergency operations such as air ambulance movements.
The airport is located approximately 7 km south of the Wangaratta city centre, adjacent to the Hume Freeway, with road access via Brian Higgins Drive and the Wangaratta–Greta Road. Its terminal building was constructed in 1984 and provides a lounge, toilets and basic passenger facilities.
The aerodrome has two runways: a sealed runway aligned 18/36 and a shorter grass runway aligned 09/27. These support light aircraft, charter operations, aviation training through the local aero club, and occasional military flights.
There are currently no scheduled airline passenger services at Wangaratta Airport. Travellers using the airport generally arrive by private aircraft or charter and continue to Wangaratta, Milawa, Glenrowan, Beechworth, Bright and other north-east Victoria destinations by car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer.
