About Victoria International Airport
Victoria International Airport is the main airport serving Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, and southern Vancouver Island. Located approximately 25 kilometres north of the city centre in Sidney, it is the gateway for the Saanich Peninsula and nearby coastal communities.
The airport site has served aviation since the late 1930s, and the airport was formally renamed Victoria International Airport in 1959. Today it operates from a single passenger terminal with ten gates, handling domestic, transborder and international flights in one building.
The airport is connected to downtown Victoria by road via Highway 17, with BC Transit buses, taxis, private transfers, rental cars and shuttle services available from the terminal. The drive between the airport and the city centre normally takes about 25 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Inside the terminal, passengers can find restaurants, cafés, shops, a duty-free store, free Wi-Fi, charging points and accessibility services, along with art installations and the nearby BC Aviation Museum.
