Tol Airport is a small rural airfield near the locality of Tol in East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. It carries the IATA code TLO and the ICAO code AYXO, and it serves light aircraft and charter traffic rather than scheduled commercial airline operations.
The airstrip was built in early August 1945 by the Australian Army 2/3 Railway Construction Company during the later stages of the Second World War. Today it consists of a single grass and gravel runway, designated 10/28 and measuring about 850 metres in length, and it has been disused in recent years but remains serviceable.
Located inland on the island of New Britain, the airport is roughly 75 km from Kokopo, the provincial capital, and about 89 km from Rabaul. Road links from the airstrip make it possible to continue by private transfer, chauffeur service or rental vehicle to nearby towns and coastal areas.
Because Tol Airport is a remote airstrip, passenger facilities are limited, and travelers are advised to arrange onward transport and supplies in advance.
