The airport has a single sealed runway, 11/29, measuring 2,336 metres. An A$5.1 million upgrade completed in 2012 sealed the runway and enabled all-weather jet operations for the roughly 950 fly-in fly-out workers employed at the site.
It lies about 540 km northwest of Alice Springs and is reached mainly by charter flights from Alice Springs and Darwin. The Royal Flying Doctor Service also uses the airport for medical flights supporting the surrounding region.
