About Suki Airport
Suki Airport (SKC) is a small domestic airstrip in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea, serving the village of Suki and the surrounding Fly River region. The area has no road access, so the airstrip is an essential link for local communities, researchers, mission groups and a small number of eco-tourism visitors.
Located close to the Fly River in a low-lying tropical area, the airport has a single unpaved runway of roughly 700 metres and sits at an elevation of about 24 feet (7 metres). Flights are infrequent, typically operated once or twice a week by small aircraft such as the Twin Otter or Cessna Caravan, connecting through regional hubs including Kiunga and Daru.
There is no formal passenger terminal, and facilities are basic. Travelers generally coordinate their arrival in advance with a lodge, host or operator, then continue from the airstrip by riverboat; Suki Lodge is commonly reached by a short boat ride.
Because the region is remote and weather conditions can delay flights, visitors should plan carefully and carry essential supplies. The airport supports emergency medical evacuation and supply deliveries, making it a vital connection point in this roadless part of Papua New Guinea.
