Stuart Island Airstrip is a small, privately owned landing strip serving Big Bay on Stuart Island, one of the Discovery Islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia. It handles private and chartered aircraft rather than scheduled airline services and provides access to the island's fishing lodges and private properties.
Located on the west side of Stuart Island near Big Bay, the airstrip sits about 45 kilometres, or roughly 28 nautical miles, north of Campbell River. The island has no public ferry service, so most visitors arrive by private aircraft, float plane or helicopter, making the airstrip an important link for fly-in guests.
The facility has a single paved runway and limited infrastructure, with no conventional passenger terminal. Flight operations are arranged directly with aircraft operators, and visitors typically coordinate their arrival plans with their lodge or property in advance.
Because road and ferry access is not available, onward travel from the airstrip is normally by boat, water taxi or helicopter. The nearest town with full services, Campbell River, is reached by air or by a longer water journey, and acts as the main supply and connection point for the area.
