About Smiths Falls-Montague (Russ Beach) Airport
Smiths Falls-Montague (Russ Beach) Airport is a registered aerodrome serving Smiths Falls and the surrounding Township of Montague in Eastern Ontario. It is located approximately 6.5 km (3.5 nautical miles) east of the town of Smiths Falls and is jointly owned by the Town of Smiths Falls and the Township of Montague.
The airport is operated and maintained by volunteers from the Smiths Falls Flying Club, which also runs a flight training unit. It primarily supports general aviation, private and charter flights, flight training, and emergency services, and it has a single asphalt runway, 06/24, measuring 3,998 by 75 feet.
Because it is a smaller general aviation facility, YSH does not have the airline terminal, security screening, or scheduled passenger operations of a major commercial airport. Travelers using private aircraft or charters can access the terminal building, aircraft parking, and 24-hour self-serve 100LL fuel, with nearby road access for taxis, private transfers, and rental cars.
The airport sits in the Rideau Canal corridor and provides a convenient aviation gateway for Smiths Falls, the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the wider Eastern Ontario region, with Ottawa and Kingston within driving distance.
