The airport is an important transfer point between southern urban centres and northern communities, supporting medical travel through the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre, medevac flights and access to fly-in fishing and hunting camps in the Sunset Country region.
Located about 4 km northeast of downtown Sioux Lookout on Regional Road 516, the airport has a single terminal building with airline check-in, baggage claim, a restaurant, concessions and car rental kiosks. Travellers typically continue into town by taxi, rental car or pre-arranged transfer.
