Rosella Plains Airport is a small outback airstrip in the Shire of Etheridge, Far North Queensland. It serves the Rosella Plains station area and nearby Mount Surprise, a rural service town on the Gulf Developmental Road and the eastern gateway to the Gulf Savannah.
The airfield sits about 34 km southeast of Mount Surprise and roughly 285 km southwest of Cairns, at an elevation of around 565 metres. It has a single dirt runway of about 850 metres used mainly by light aircraft, charter flights and station traffic.
The airport provides a practical arrival point for travellers heading to Undara Volcanic National Park, the Gulf Savannah country and surrounding pastoral stations. Road access is via outback routes, so onward travel is normally arranged by private transfer, rental 4WD or group vehicle in advance.
