Roper Valley Airport (RPV)

Roper Valley Airport is a small remote airstrip in the Roper Valley area of the Northern Territory, Australia. It serves nearby cattle stations, pastoral properties and communities across the Roper River region rather than scheduled airline passengers.

Located roughly 100 km east of Mataranka and about 200 km from Katherine, the airstrip sits in a remote part of the Northern Territory where road access can be slow and seasonal conditions affect travel. It is primarily used for private flights, charter operations and medical evacuation services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The facility is basic, with an unsealed graded runway and no conventional terminal building. Visitors should not expect airline counters, shops or public transport; access is usually coordinated in advance with station management or a charter operator.

For onward travel, most journeys are made by pre-arranged 4WD, as the nearest larger town services are in Mataranka and Katherine along the Stuart Highway.
