About Roma Airport
Roma Airport is the main regional airport serving Roma and the Maranoa Region in south-west Queensland. Opened at its present site in 1949, it replaced an earlier airstrip that had served the town since the 1920s; Qantas had already linked Roma with Brisbane and Charleville through weekly flights from 1929.
The single passenger building, the AT Berry Terminal, was rebuilt in 2012 as part of an A$14 million upgrade largely funded by energy and resources companies. The airport mainly handles domestic regional flights, including QantasLink and Rex services to Brisbane, alongside charter and fly-in fly-out operations for coal seam gas projects in the Surat Basin. The Royal Flying Doctor Service also maintains one of its Queensland bases here.
Roma Airport sits about 3.7 km northwest of the Roma town centre, an easy drive of around 5 minutes by taxi, hire car or pre-booked transfer, with parking available directly outside the terminal.
