About Petawawa Heliport
Petawawa Heliport is a military aviation facility serving the town of Petawawa and the wider Ottawa Valley in Renfrew County, Ontario. It functions mainly as a helicopter operating site for Garrison Petawawa, one of Canada's principal army bases.
The heliport lies about 6.5 km (4 miles) northwest of the Petawawa town centre, with road access via Highway 17 and local routes. It supports CH-146 Griffon and CH-147F Chinook helicopter operations flown by 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron and 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.
Rather than a conventional passenger terminal, the site has helicopter pads and a short concrete strip used for military flight operations. Public commercial airline services do not operate from YWA; travellers typically use nearby Pembroke Airport or continue by road to Ottawa.
Because of its military role, access is restricted and coordinated through Garrison Petawawa. Road connections make the heliport reachable from Petawawa, Pembroke, Deep River and other Ottawa Valley communities for authorized personnel and support travel.
