Jandakot Airport (JAD)

Jandakot Airport opened in 1963 and is the major general aviation airport in Western Australia, as well as one of the busiest airfields and largest aviation training bases in Australia. It serves flying schools, charter and hire companies, aircraft maintenance businesses, aerial work operators, and emergency services across the Perth metropolitan area.

The airport's primary function is air work rather than scheduled passenger transport. Flying training accounts for a large share of aircraft movements, and hundreds of aircraft are based at the site, which also supports charter flights to regional and remote areas and essential services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, bushfire water bombers, the rescue helicopter, and the WA Police Air Wing.

Located about 20 km south of the Perth CBD, the airport has direct road access via the Kwinana Freeway and Roe Highway, making it convenient for travel to Perth, Fremantle, Cockburn, and the southern suburbs. Most travellers connect onward by private transfer, taxi, chauffeur service, or rental car.

On-site, visitors can use the public viewing area on Eagle Drive, cafés, parking, and other basic facilities, while nearby connections make it straightforward to continue into the city centre and surrounding regions.
