Périgueux-Bassillac Airport (PGX)

Périgueux-Bassillac Airport is a small regional airport serving Périgueux and the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. Today it mainly handles business aviation, medical and official flights, military training, and leisure flying organised by local aeroclubs.

The airfield was established at Bassillac, in a loop of the Isle river, and opened in November 1936. It was used as a military school from 1939 before civil flying resumed after the Second World War. The present terminal dates from 1988, and for many years the airport offered scheduled connections between Périgueux and Paris; the last regular Paris flight landed in June 2018.

Located about 8 km east-northeast of Périgueux city centre, the airport is reached by road via the D6089 and the nearby RN21. A free car park serves the terminal, taxis and private transfers connect with the city, and a greenway along the Isle river provides cycling and walking access.

The site covers around 76 hectares and includes a 1,750-metre paved runway alongside a grass runway, aircraft parking areas and a fuel station. With a compact terminal, short walking distances and straightforward access, it remains a practical gateway for general and business aviation serving the Périgord.
