About Oshawa Executive Airport
Oshawa Executive Airport is a municipal general aviation airport serving Oshawa and the surrounding Durham Region in the eastern Greater Toronto Area. It is owned and operated by the City of Oshawa and supports private flying, flight training, corporate aviation, air ambulance, police operations, charter flights and aircraft maintenance rather than scheduled airline service.
The airport opened in June 1941 under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan as No. 20 Elementary Flying Training School, RCAF Station Oshawa, and helped train pilots during the Second World War. After the war, the City of Oshawa took over operation of the site, which has since developed into one of the busiest general aviation airports in Canada without scheduled airline service.
Located at the north end of Oshawa, roughly 7 to 10 kilometres from downtown, the airport is reached by road via Stevenson Road and Airport Boulevard. Downtown Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and Toronto are accessible by car, taxi or private transfer, and Durham Region Transit provides local bus service in the surrounding area.
The airport has a single terminal building, two asphalt runways, a NAV Canada control tower, instrument approach capability and extensive hangar space. On-site aviation businesses offer fuel, maintenance, flight training and customs handling, making the airport a practical gateway for private and business travel in Ontario's Durham Region.
