The airstrip lies at the northern end of K'gari, roughly 60 km from Hervey Bay by air. Ground access is limited to 4WD routes and vehicle barges from River Heads near Hervey Bay or Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach, with the mainland journey taking several hours and depending on tides.
